Shri Dileep Sanghani was born on May 12, 1954 in the village of Malila in Amreli district of Gujarat State. He did his schooling from four different schools of Chalala, Malila, Shobhavadla and Chittal. He studied at Prataprai Arts College and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree and later he also completed his studies for Bcom and LLB.
Shri Dileep Sanghani started his public service in the year 1982 when he became a member of District Panchayat, Amreli. In 1985 he was elected as an MLA from Amreli District. In 1990, he was re-elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly from 45-Amreli Constituency & appointed as a State Minister for R & B, Fisheries & Jail. In 1991, he was elected as a member of 10th Parliament (Loksabha) from Amreli District and he continued to serve as an MP till 13th Parliament. In 2007, he was elected as a Member of Legislative Assembly from 45-Amreli Constituency & appointed as a Cabinet Minister of Agriculture, Cooperation, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Cow breeding, Prison, Law & Justice, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs.
